OAS Grant Received CAREL has received a $ 50,000 grant from the OAS to complete our classroom and office building in El Limon, and prepare the first workshops for community hydroelectric technicians to be delivered in El Limon.

Vision Hembra "Vision Hembra" ("Female Vision") is our video project with 14 young women. Their first video Hoy por Ti, Mañana por Mi (Today You, Tomorrow Me) tells the story of two disabled women of El Limon. Vision Hembra es nuestro proyecto de video con 14 jóvenes mujeres. Sonia's PassingOur friend and neighbor Sonia Presinal died February 1st, at the age of 43. Sonia died of complications of kidney failure, after three years on dialysis, and two years of waiting for a donated kidney. But she also died as yet another victim of a social system that puts an invisble glass wall between the rural poor and more advanced medical services, like the kidney transplant that could have saved her life. We are starting the Sonia Memorial Fund to help El Limon's residents with their most urgent medical needs. Sonia will not be forgotten. |
